Toshiba Portege R705-P41 Tru Brite LED 13.3-Inch Laptop-Toshiba Portege R705-P41 Tru Brite LED 13.3-Inch Laptop Review

The R705 is unique in packing a full-performance CPU, DVD writer, and a 13″ screen while weighing the same as a 10-inch netbook. You will appreciate the lightness, but may have to get used to the thin and hollow feel of panels and casings. The internal structure should prove reliable, though. Rather than the MacBook’s all-round sturdy feel, this machine is engineered to be solid where it counts. It weighs 30% less than the 13-inch unibody Macbook Pro: 3.2 lbs vs 4.5 The only catch is that full performance means “integrated graphics”, if you can live with that. I develop websites and run virtual machines, so it’s not that big a difference with enough RAM and reliable drivers.

Toshiba designed this model to be a “business-class” machine, with a 3 year warranty and life-cycle. So I wouldn’t worry about the 1 year warranty, if that means business quality at consumer prices.

The 13-inch 16:9 display is something of a cross between the newer glossy displays and older matt displays. It’s a bit more reflective than the VAIO Z panel, and the angles are not as good. Colors are just as great, though. It’s not as spacious as the Macbook’s 13-inch 16:10 display, but nowhere as near reflective.

Lastly, the cooling fan is a little noisy, but only if some buggy software or script-heavy browser session is occupying your CPU. The nice thing about a Core i5 CPU is that it does all the work quickly and returns to idling, unlike ultra low-voltage CPUs which drag on. If anything you can kill runaway processes on the i5 more quickly.

I did a LOT of reading of reviews, and looking at laptops, before choosing this Toshiba. I am HAPPY with my choice. For me, it was the best blend of features, weight, and price. Nothing else was comparable, when considering all three.

I use the computer constantly: Word processing, voice recognition, maintaining Websites, databases, etc. I travel weekly to another city for two days of work, and need to duplicate almost everything I do on my desktop. Weight is also crucial to me. I’ve used netbooks (too small, weak for my needs) 15″ laptops (too big and too heavy) and have had 2 Sony Vaio’s with 13″ screens. This Toshiba is by far the best laptop I’ve ever had. Screen size is perfect for my needs, weight is incredible, price was lowest in class, very happy with the processor. Keyboard is easy to type on (I type a lot, touchtype). I really have no qualms about this machine. This is NOT a machine for serious video editing work. But excellent for all else I do. I like the touchpad. After I made Recovery DVD’s (two sets) I partitioned the 500 GB drive immediately (used Parted Magic, worked great) to separate my data from OS and programs. I might upgrade to 8GB Ram, as almost from the start the OS (W7 H-Prem) uses 35% of memory resources before I start loading programs, and I run multiple programs. Plan to use VMware with Linux.

This laptop is great. You will be amazed at how light (just a little over 3 lbs.) and the overall appearance is a business-type look which is great. The pictures on the amazon.com product description is misleading. The eSATA USB port is AVAILABLE on this version. This product also INCLUDES Wi-Di as well. The laptop works flawlessly, it is very very fast considering that it is an intel core i5 processor and how small it is. You will be very pleased.

Apple MacBook Air MC504LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop Review

Mac Air Apple 256 GB version of the materials for the intensive image processing to capture images at the cellular level in the investigation. For those really interested in this machine to ignore the rabid foam as a hatter Mac Core 2 Duo. depends not only on the speed of your computer’s processor speed. The slowdown of the speed of computers today, as higher speed memory and the processor is not a way to replace. Fortunately, Apple has done for Mac Air. They are a little dig “it objectively, you realize that Apple has a number of processors, size and graphics, which is in the i-series processors built had to reduce. I was waiting for a new computer and when you try to Mac switch next to the ether was an easy decision. My wife was not the whole computer user my life and loves Mac This machine is a work of art dedicated to intensive work on the computer.

I also have a Dell Latitude laptop at work sometimes. “Again and as slow as molasses, which is a big problem, because I only presentations. I thought that it was an old processor, but I noticed that I have a Core i5 and was a bit surprised,” because in look for speed, put it like this I have a laptop five years ago. Almost to my friends Macbook Air I have also recently the desktop of Mac OS Windows i3 work “appears to be” faster than my desktop Dell i7. And that’s not a shock that Dell does not care what I got from the library. I think that says a lot of factors that affect the computer’s processor speed. I’m not a big fan of the Mac OS, and it is annoying when working with Windows on my research. I have not used a Mac for their role in 80, but I’m back into recession, the quality of the products, and they can now use the Windows Boot Camp. And the last thing to find my girlfriend a MacBook Air battery is much better than apples in the Windows operating system .

Apple Macbook MC207LL-A Vs Asus UL30A-X5 13.3-Inch Laptop

Specifications: These laptops are two of my favorite laptop model for the past year. The Apple MacBook MC207LL/A is a full-featured 13.3-inch laptop while the Asus UL30A-X5 is a sleek ultra-thin model. Both these models have very strong selling points and I would definitely have a very hard time if I had to choose to buy either one. The Apple model has a 2.26Ghz processor, 2GB of DDR3 Ram and 250GB for storage. The Asus model on the other hand comes with a 1.3Ghz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500GB of storage. Although the Apple laptop has a more powerful processor, the ample storage and RAM on the Asus model more than makes up for it. If you don’t perform a lot of heavy computing tasks on your laptop (such as running heavy applications), the specs on the Asus machine would prove to be more than sufficient.

Design: The Apple MacBook MC207LL/A is full-sized laptop, weighing in at 4.7 pounds. The Asus UL30A-X5 is just 0.98-inches in thickness and is much more portable at just 3.74 pounds. The Apple MacBook sports an all-white uni-body polycarbonate external casing while the UL30A-X5 has a beautiful brushed-metal casing. It is of no doubt that the Asus model is the more portable machine but in terms of aesthetics, these two models are some of the most stylish laptops in the market.

Features & Performance: Considering the ample RAM on the Asus UL30A-X5, it is designed for heavy multitasking. The average user will find this model to be more than enough for running everyday computing tasks. The Apple MacBook MC207LL/A is more suited for handling moderate to heavy PC tasks. The DVD drive would also prove to be useful (not found on the Asus model). The battery on the MC207LL/A can last 7 hours on a single charge while the battery on the UL30A-X5 can last up am impressive 12 hours on one full charge. All in all, both models prove to be excellent 13.3-inch laptops depending on your personal preferences and computing needs. At the moment, the Apple MacBook MC207LL/A is price at around 4 each while the Asus UL30A-X5 is priced at around 1.

Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop review – Get Amazons Best Selling Laptop

I just got my brand spanking new 13.3″ Macbook Pro in the mail. I customised mine with 4GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, but with the entry-level 2.26 GHz Intel processor. I unboxed it in front of my ma and sister, and they were both oohing and aahing about how beautiful and thin it was. I powered the computer up, went thru the Leopard setup screens, and inside mins was logged in. While starting up, the light sensor powered on, the screen dimmed, and the keyboard lit-up mechanically. Everything about this computer counsels ingenious design and engineering, with great attention to every detail. It is awfully light, and since I’m using this for faculty, I’m totally happy with the size and form factor, particularly the charger.

I suspect that the next-gen MBP’s will phase out the rotary hard drives and switch to solid state as the standard, and will all have Blu-Ray players. Till that time, this little portable is more than adequate.

If I had to come up with a gripe about this PC, there is really only one- and this is true for most of Apple’s products- the iPod, iPhone, and MBP’s- I wish that they would not coat transportable products with textures that are so simple to scratch. It is clear that after some months of toting this to class, it is going to have some scuffs on it. It appears like a bit of an absurdity that a company that puts so much price on aesthetics appears only to care about how the product looks when it is taken out of the first packaging. Having said that , this laptop feels intensely strong, and except for normal wear and tear marks, it’s not that I am scared that it will fall apart, which is a whole lot more than I can say for my previous piece of crap plastic Dell.

In reading other reviews, people seem to be unable to grasp this qualifies as a super-portable laptop. It is just not going to have a peripheral hookup for every kind of flash card and five USB hookups. If you’re a user who favors those things, then you’re free to go out and purchase the necessary adapters, but I’d rather have a light-weight PC that I can simply tote around. The truth is that for the money, you are not going to find a better portable than this one. It costs more than competing PC products, but I have owned Dell’s and HP’s, and I am able to tell you, you get what you pay for. If you use your laptop for a minimum of 2 hours per day, I suspect it is worth a couple hundred extra to get a high quality product that makes you satisfied, and that is why I upgraded to the MBP.

Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop review – Check it out!

I just got my brand new 13.3″ Macbook Pro in the post. I customised mine with 4GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, but with the entry-level 2.26 GHz Intel processor. I unboxed it in front of my ma and sister, and they were both oohing and aahing about how beautiful and thin it was. They also loved the magnetic connector on the end of the power adapter that snaps the power cord into the PC nearly on its own. I powered the PC up, went thru the Leopard setup screens, and within minutes was logged on. While starting, the light sensor powered on, the screen dimmed, and the keyboard lit-up immediately. Everything about this computer counsels ingenious design and engineering, with great attention to every detail. It is extraordinarily light, and since I am using this for school, I am very happy with the size and form factor, especially the charger. Switching from a big Dell that sported a charger that might be used to bludgeon someone to death, the little white charger that is about the size of a wallet is a breath of clean air. This computer will be fantastic to travel with.

Are there things this computer lacks? Yes, there is no Blu-Ray player, which would have been nice, but for me wasn’t a deal-breaker. I suspect that the next-gen MBP’s will phase out the rotary hard drives and switch to solid state as the standard, and will all have Blu-Ray players. Till that time, this small laptop is more than sufficient.

If I had to come up with a gripe about this computer, there’s actually only one- and this is true for most of Apple’s products- the iPod, iPhone, and MBP’s- I’m wishing that they wouldn’t coat transportable products with textures that are so straightforward to scratch. It is apparent that after a few months of toting this to class, it is going to have some scuffs on it. It seems like a bit of a paradox that a company that puts so much value on aesthetics seems only to care about the way the product looks when it is taken out of the first packaging. Having said that , this portable feels intensely robust, and aside from ordinary wear and tear marks, I am not scared that it will fall apart, which is a heap more than I will say for my prior piece of crap plastic Dell.

In reading other reviews, people seem to be unable to realise that this qualifies as a ultraportable computer. It is just not going to have a peripheral hookup for every kind of flash card and five USB hookups. Are people serious with lambasting Apple for merging the audio jack in / out ports into one single port? Truly, who gives a rat’s a$ $ ? This is a PORTABLE computer, not a media center. If you’re a user who favors those things, then you are free to go out and purchase the required adapters, but I’d rather have a light-weight computer that I will simply tote around. If you want a laptop that’s prepared for any occasion, go buy an eight lb. Dell desktop replacement, and have fun. I for one think people just need an incentive to groan or find something to complain about. The truth is that for the cash, you aren’t going to find a better laptop than this one. It costs more than competing computer products, but I have owned Dell’s and HP’s, and I will tell you, you get what you pay for. If you use your laptop for a minimum of a couple of hours a day, I suspect it is worth a pair hundred extra to get a really high quality product that makes you satisfied, and that is why I upgraded to the MBP.

Apple MacBook Pro MC374LLA 13.3-Inch Laptop Review

Are you thinking of buying an Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A? If you are then you are not far away from making an extremely wise choice. Apple is well known for manufacturing high quality products that work amazingly well. The Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A certainly fits into this category of Apple products. As soon as you take it out of the box and hold it in your hands it is evident that this notebook is up there with the best of the best. So if you are looking for a well-built machine you have hit the jackpot.

OK, so the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A is put together well and will stand the test of time but, how does it perform? With a 2.4GHz Intel Core Duo processor it is very likely that the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A will out-think, out-load and out-boot any other notebook you can find.

Despite the seemingly smaller screen of 13.3 inches on the Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A you will never feel like you are losing out. The quality of the screen resolution and clearness of the pictures is impeccable. However, if you would like to watch a movie on your HD TV then you can use the HDMI connection to connect the machine.

Another great feature and improvement on the last model is the 9-10 hour battery life. This makes it perfect for long journeys if you need to get some work done while you travel. The 4GB of RAM means this machine can multifunction with the best of them. Also the 250GB hard drive is more than enough to store movies, music and work files on. If this isn’t enough, you can upgrade to a larger one of your choice.

Overall, a wonderfully built notebook that runs smoothly no matter what you are doing.

Apple MacBook Air MC233LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop Review

I’m a PC, however i am conjointly a Mac. A Macbook Air (MBA) to be actual. i am a great deal into style therefore it simply created sense. I 1st thought of one thing just like the Dell Adamo, Latitude Z or the HP ENVY13, however the Dells were heavily under-powered processor-wise. The HP was crazy powerful, however heftier than i might have liked. The Latitude’s Euro style gave the MBA’s style a run for it cash, however it starts at over 2 grand and you will simply knock on 00 with the bells and whistles, Yikes! The HP ENVY thirteen is incredibly powerful and therefore the solely ultra-portable with the i7 processor. except for what i will be using this for, the mobility and value is additional vital to me. The Adamo looked as if it would match the worth and options of the Macbook Air best, however finding that the look, feature and value just about a draw (I personally thought the MBA had a awfully tiny edge on Design), I settled on the MBA owing to the very fact that I will run Windows seven further as Mac OS X(which I conjointly use for various purposes)and the higher build quality. I even have to mention, the unibody style extremely makes the factor feel as if it had been carved from one piece of aluminum. there is minimal flex to talk of. Closed, it simply feels therefore nice in your hands.

Weird Mini show port – conjointly not a giant deal since i do not imaging connecting an external monitor to the current a lot of.
Only one USB – This one, I admit, is pretty important. it had been slightly of problem to swap USB devices slightly, but again, I solely use multiple devices some of times (mainly a USB DJ Console Mixer and an external USB HD containing the music i would like to mix). I got alittle griffin USB “Splitter” that was nothing over a awfully little USB Hub, however it did have some hassle obtaining enough power to the HD from this one USB port, therefore I did need to add a USB power cable to the combination (the audio was clipping heavily throughout mixing and transition). therefore keep that in mind if you are aiming to daisy-chain 3 laborious drives, a soda cooler and a reading lightweight to the USB port- simply do not. It works fine with the bulk of different (low powered) USB devices.
RAM – Here’s the opposite huge CON! whereas 2GB of RAM can in all probability be ok for currently, however i might have loved having the choice of adding additional. I even have have} 8GB on my desktop and that i actually use it (photo and video editing, media center functions, terminal services, etc.)! whereas i am not doing a lot of of that (maybe alittle Photoshoping) on this factor, all it takes is that killer application that needs a minimum of 4GB of RAM that i can not use that may drive me nuts!

I have a primary generation Macbook professional from work and that i continually loved the look of it. This takes things to consequent level. i am primarily a Windows user, and this looks to figure slightly additional seamlessly with Windows than the Macbook Pro(although with the newest drivers and software updates for bootcamp from apple, it got better). It’s kinda odd that I went with an Mac to run Windows, however it had been a calculated selection. Had I been searching for a full-function laptop, it might have probably been an HP or Dell.
